Jack is a seasoned technology executive who combines a deep understanding of technology with decades of experience founding, operating, and providing thought leadership for tech-centric businesses. He is a proven innovator, having built one of the first financially-viable mobile app companies, a recipient of the prestigious Apple Design Award. Jack has served as CTO or CEO of five separate organizations, with sector experience that cuts across a wide range of industries, including mobile / SaaS tech product firms, pharmaceuticals / healthcare, consumer electronics, insurance / financial services, manufacturing, and publishing. He has led successful exits at two tech companies, including negotiations, deal structuring, and legal oversight.

Jack is both a strategic thinker and a no-nonsense doer, and thrives on helping organizations succeed through the creative application of technology. He believes that to provide effective technology leadership, one must understand both the big picture and the implementation details, and so has remained hands-on with critical emerging technologies and practices, including native and cross-platform app development tools, development / testing / deployment methodologies, cloud computing, machine learning, embedded software engineering, privacy and security.

Founder & CEO, AppSanity – AppSanity helped companies create smart, connected products and the apps that drive them. Among AppSanity’s top clients was Singapore-based BandLab, the social music creation platform with over 7 million registered users. AppSanity helped BandLab expand its library of audio effects, and helped prototype a series of groundbreaking connected music devices. AppSanity was an Apple technology licensee through the MFi program.

Co-founder, CEO / CTO, Agile Technologies – Maker of cloud-backed mobile and desktop apps, as well as app-connected accessories. Agile’s apps for guitarists ranked almost continuously among the top 25 bestselling apps in the App Store’s music category. Agile was a pioneer in the mobile music space, first to market with iPhone based guitar tuning, app-connected music accessories, live music notation rendering, and a virtual guitar gear store.

Co-founder, President & CTO, Agile – Developer of advanced custom web and desktop applications for both enterprise and startup organizations. Jack grew the organization from two initial founders to a peak of over 35 consultants with revenues in excess of $3.5M. Jack led teams for Fortune 100 clients including Merck and Citibank, with projects that included Merck’s highly-successful website automation tool that reduced product website costs by 80%.

Technology Lead, Strategic Client Principal, Viant – One of the best-known Internet consultancies executing Internet projects that combined creative, strategy, and technology disciplines for clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. Jack served as tech lead, project manager, and program manager on numerous projects, with clients including Northwestern Mutual and Johnson & Johnson.

Partner and CTO, GlobalServe – A software engineering consultancy that specialized in group collaboration and knowledge management technologies including Lotus Notes. Jack set technology direction and led the move into knowledge management, corporate portals and web technology with clients including Procter & Gamble and Cummins Engine. He was selected to serve on Microsoft, Citrix, and Lotus advisory councils.

Jack’s contributions in academia are nearly as impressive as his commercial experience. As a guest lecturer at Northwestern University, Jack addressed the topic of anti-social behavior in online communities. He served as a judge for the New Venture Challenge at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He was a member of the adjunct facility in Xavier University’s Executive MBA Program where he taught e-commerce.

He is a Yale University Computer Science grad who learned from Turing Award winner Alan Perlis and artificial intelligence pioneer Richard Schank.
