Jim Gallagher is a business builder, transformation leader, and strategic CFO helping companies accelerate growth and build enterprise value and profitability through establishing sustainable and scalable operations, smart capital utilization strategy and deployment, and the creation of well-executed liquidity events.

As a Partner in TechCXO’s Finance & Operations CFO Practice, Jim works with public and private companies, family-owned businesses, startups, and PE and VC backed organizations navigating significant growth, change management issues, and/or complex challenges. He brings more than four decades of experience spanning public accounting, internal C-level corporate finance and operations roles, and strategic CFO Consulting/Advisory work. He is known for his ability to bridge the gap between connecting financial strategy to what is happening inside the business to create positive results.

Jim has executed more than thirty liquidity transactions representing more than $4 billion in value, including public and private debt and equity offerings, IPOs, reverse mergers, LBOs, turnarounds, and buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions. Beyond getting transactions done, his mission is on helping those companies become more focused and better businesses, strengthening financial and operating infrastructures, improving profitability and cash flow, developing new revenue opportunities, building and mentoring teams, and putting the reporting, systems, and accountability in place to support scalable and sustainable growth.

His combined financial and operating discipline and extensive transaction experience have proven critical in several complicated and challenging engagements. As Interim CFO of Ionic Digital, he restructured the former $150 million bitcoin mining operations and repositioned the business as an AI and high-performance computing infrastructure solutions provider of powered land to data center hyperscalers. The work included closing a ten year triple-net lease valued for more than $2.7 billion (with over $700 million in shared tax credits recognized as additional rental revenue), a $400 million private equity capital raise, and an IPO/ direct listing that resulted in a publicly traded enterprise valuation of approximately $3.9 billion (or an increase of more than 70% from the initial IPO pricing) within the first 60 days of trading.

He also served as Interim CFO for Entersekt, a global fintech provider of authentication and fraud prevention technology, where he completed a secondary capital raise and closed the company’s first acquisition as combined revenue increased two and a half fold and EBITDA by five fold. For UK-based Dimension Studios, a technology driven provider of virtual studio sets for the entertainment industry, Jim restructured its operations, integrated acquisitions, and executed a strategic film financing model that leveraged tax credits across multiple jurisdictions as the virtual production company emerged from the disruption of the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild strikes.

Prior to joining TechCXO in September 2024, Jim held various CFO and senior finance and operations roles with companies including Sony Music Entertainment, Bluefly, Fancy.com, Vertro, Vizrt, Medsite, Reiss Media Enterprises, and businesses affiliated with Xerox Financial Services, amongst others. He began his career at Andersen (formerly Arthur Andersen & Co) in New York, where he spent more than a decade in the audit and assurance practice and rose to Senior Audit Manager. Jim’s extensive and diverse financial and operational experience has provided a solid foundation that continues to be leveraged in his continuing work dealing with in SEC and international regulatory reporting groups, U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting, technical accounting and transaction structuring, and dealing directly with owners, board members and investors, as a trusted and valued Business Advisor.

While industries and circumstances vary, Jim’s focus for all clients has remained remarkably consistent: identify what challenges are holding the business back from potential growth and efficiency opportunities, provide meaningful strategic solutions to address those challenges, and execute those strategic solutions to transform the operations to meet the overall company goals and objectives in terms of maximizing revenue, profitability and enterprise value.

Jim holds a B.B.A. in Financial Accounting, with minors in Finance and Economics, from Iona University where he graduated cum laude. He is a CPA licensed in New York (currently inactive status).
