Mark Howorth is a global media and technology executive who has built a career stepping into complex, often underperforming businesses and helping them become more focused and effective. His work sits at the intersection of content, technology, and international operations, where disruption — whether from consolidation, digitization, or AI — tends to be the rule, not the exception.
Over the past 25 years, Mark has led multiple companies through periods of operational and strategic change: turnarounds, integrations, growth, and exit preparation. He typically joins organizations facing operational, financial, or strategic inflection points, aligns teams around a clear operating plan, and delivers measurable improvement in performance and value.
Executive Leadership
Most recently, Mark served as CEO of VSI, a leader in dubbing and subtitling based in the UK, where he was brought in to modernize the business, accelerate growth, and position the company for a successful sale — all while navigating the rapidly evolving role of AI in media localization.
Prior to that, he was President of Iyuno, a media services company formed through the mergers of Iyuno, BTI, and SDI Media. During his tenure, the business scaled from approximately $375 million to over $500 million in revenue, driven by global demand for localized content, strong process execution, and disciplined integration of the merged entities.
Earlier, as CEO of SDI Media, Mark led the largest player in the localization industry through a full operational turnaround. After the company had slipped into unprofitability following its acquisition by Imagica Group, he restored profitability and reignited growth over a five-year period through internal operational improvements and targeted acquisitions, positioning the company for its sale to Iyuno.
As COO of Panavision, the famed provider of cinema and TV cameras and lenses, Mark was part of a leadership team brought in following a recapitalization led by Cerberus Capital Management. Over four years, the company doubled EBITDA, introduced new products, and regained its competitive footing in a highly specialized, global market.
Earlier in his operating career, Mark served as CEO of National Mobile Television, the world’s largest provider of mobile broadcast production trucks used for sports and live TV. There, he led a full financial turnaround, guided the company through the industry’s transition to HD technology, and expanded the business into new service lines. The company was ultimately sold following its turnaround, eventually becoming part of NEP Supershooters.
Consulting Background
Before moving into operating roles, Mark spent 15 years at Bain & Company, where he became a Partner and worked across media, technology, telecom, healthcare, consumer products, and financial services. His work ranged from growth strategy to cost transformation, often in collaboration with private equity clients. He also played a leadership role in recruiting and talent development, including serving as Bain’s global head of recruiting.
Areas of Expertise
Across each of these roles, a few themes stand out. Mark has worked extensively in global environments across Europe, Asia, and South America, often spending a significant portion of his time on the ground with international teams. He brings deep experience in culture change, aligned incentives, pricing, process change, M&A, integration, and fundraising. He has led organizations through rapid change driven by market dynamics, financial pressure, and technological disruption.
