Todd Merrill

Partner – Product & Technology; Interim and Fractional CTO, CiSO

Todd Merrill is an experienced software executive who typically assists clients as a fractional or interim CTO and CiSO.

He has served in a series of companies as a C-Level executive focused on leveraging the Cloud to bring SaaS offerings to market.  As an entrepreneur, turn-around expert, technology and product leader and mentor, Todd has held full corporate P&L and product development responsibilities and directed diverse international teams of Engineering Managers, Mobile Architects, Developers, Dev Ops, QA, and Customer Success professionals.

Relevant Experience

CTO

Todd has served in a number of companies as the CTO including Startup, Venture Backed and Private Equity backed companies. Most recently, he has been the CTO of AirWorks (ML/Computer Vision), Engel & Voelkers Americas (Real Estate), Cforia (Payments), Trifin (healthcare) and genrae (crypto/web3). Key skills for these positions include building teams, outsourcing development where appropriate, building Intellectual Property Portfolios, establishing security & compliance policies and budgeting & planning for high growth or restructuring. Board Reporting is also a part of every CTO position.

COO/Managing Partner

As a seasoned Operations Executive with a broad range of experiences Todd has leveraged solid operational processes to fuel growth. In 1998 he co-founded Alpha Property Holdings, a Residential Real Estate acquisition company that operates a fleet of Single Family Rental Houses. His ‘dot-com’ era position was as Managing Partner for Performance IT (sold to Private Equity in 2005) and his most recent operating position was as COO of Organic Payments Network.

Founder & CEO

Global Crypto Systems – As founder, Todd established this company to deliver cryptographic security for Web applications used to authenticate users, digitally sign documents, protect online content, prevent the sharing of seat licenses and eliminate the need to maintain multiple passwords. He was responsible for the Strategic Growth of the company, had full P&L responsibility and raised two rounds of outside capital. Most recently he co-founded and serves as CEO of Chapter2 Dating.

He has also held critical engineering and security architecture positions with organizations that included Air DefenseScientific AtlantaBellSouth and Ciena.

Most recently Todd served as an Innovation Mentor at Chick-fil-A’s Rev Center at Georgia Tech and led teams delivering Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP and modern web apps based on AWS and GCP.

Todd holds fundamental patents on the first Cable Modem and has had software deployed on a Satellite launched from the Space Shuttle. On the weekends he is usually camping with his scout troop in the woods of North Georgia, flying as a private pilot or training for triathlons.

He received both his BS in Computer Engineering and his Masters of Engineering degrees from the University of Florida.
