Mike McCarthy is a Finance Partner at TechCXO and provides fractional CFO services. He has served as a CFO for more than 20 years, primarily working for growing companies with revenue under $150M. His industry experience is broad and includes business services, construction, financial services, transportation, technology, and software.

Throughout his career Mike has been called on to build out company financial infrastructures, which includes upgrading financial reporting, mentoring accounting managers, constructing cash flow forecasting models, managing investor and banking relationships, and coordinating planning processes. He also partners with CEOs on operational issues and growth initiatives.

Mike is passionate about helping entrepreneurs overcome growing pains—the predictable challenges that occur when a company’s revenue outruns its people and systems. He is also a proponent of strengthening organizational infrastructures in advance of growth to minimize disruptions. Over the course of his career, Mike has:

  • Quarterbacked the sale of a $50M specialty contractor to a private equity firm (NRI Construction)
  • Participated in the IPO of a financial services company that he helped grow from $90M to $650M in assets (Omni Financial Services)

Jim McClintock

Jim McClintock is a seasoned business leader with 30 years of executive-level financial, strategic and operational management experience. Jim has served six different organizations — from startups to a $75 million company — as their CFO. As a TechCXO Principal, he brings his clients a balance of both Fortune 50 (Citibank, BellSouth) and entrepreneurial perspectives, including expertise in: M&A, strategic planning, corporate development, CFO services, financial reporting, accounting, internal controls, information technology, risk management, banking, venture capital and private equity.

His career spans multiple industry segments within financial services and information technology and across multiple functional roles. He worked in business development for Citibank’s LBO financing unit, as a partner at North Riverside Ventures, an Atlanta-based venture capital arm of Sam Zell’s Equity Group, and as COO/CFO for an Atlanta-based broker-dealer for independent financial planners.

Jim was a senior corporate development executive at BellSouth, where he led strategy and deal teams for BellSouth’s Broadband, Entertainment and Internet groups, including the completion of a $500 million digital cable TV programming partnership among BellSouth, Ameritech, SBC Communications and Walt Disney, the acquisition of five wireless cable companies for $250 million, and a wide variety of other strategic transactions (divestitures, strategic alliances, partnerships, software licenses, investments, etc.). He also led a BellSouth International team in developing strategic plans for BellSouth’s Latin American affiliates to enter the Internet services business in six Latin American countries.

Jim subsequently headed the startup of a broadband communications service provider in Canada (Cypress Communications) and served in fractional CFO roles for an information security software company, a telecom billing software company, and an INC 500 digital marketing agency.

Jim was a Partner at Pace Capital Advisors for eight years, where he provided M&A advisory and exit planning services to owners of privately held, lower middle market businesses with revenues of $5 million to $50 million.

During his tenure with TechCXO, Jim has served as fractional CFO for software as a service companies in the healthcare and financial services industries. He has also assisted owners of multiple businesses with M&A transactions.

As founder, Todd established Global Crypto Systems to deliver cryptographic security for Web applications used to authenticate users, digitally sign documents, protect online content, prevent the sharing of seat licenses and eliminate the need to maintain multiple passwords. He was responsible for the Strategic Growth of the company, had full P&L responsibility and raised two rounds of outside capital. In 1998 Todd Founded Alpha Property Holdings to buy, rehab and rent Single Family Residential Real Estate. He served as the acquisition and rehab partner for two decades and has participated in hundreds of transactions personally. Most recently, Todd co-founded and served as CEO of Chapter2 Dating.

Neal Miller

Neal Miller is a Partner Emeritus at TechCXO. Neal was one of the early partners at the firm, joining as a fractional CFO in 2006. Over the last 18 years, Neal has worked with over 50 TechCXO clients in a diverse set of industries, including SaaS/Software, telecom, healthcare tech and health services, energy solutions and tangible goods. He has been involved with clients who completed capital transactions – equity/debt, buy and sell – approaching $2 Billion.

Neal had the privilege of advising over a dozen early stage companies who ultimately had successful exits, including: Cloud Sherpas (Accenture), Clearleap (IBM), Lanyon (Vista Equity Partners), Boomtown (Inside Real Estate) and FSLogix (Microsoft).

While in that role, he worked closely with clients and partners in their decisions involving finance and forecasting, accumulating vast experience in modeling for new investment targets and prospective dispositions. Among his previous roles, Andrew spent seven years working at Hines, an international real estate investor/manager, in the two distinct but complementary roles of controllership/asset management and project development. His skills include Accounting, Financial and Strategic Planning, Budget Development, Operational and Financial Forecasting, JV Investment, and Project Management.

Andrew has served as a Board member of the Georgia Chapter of NAIOP, one of North America’s largest commercial real estate organizations. He has a Bachelor of Science with Special Attainments in Commerce from Washington & Lee University and an MBA from Emory University. He attained his CPA license in 2005.

Paul Sansone

As the Managing Partner of the Atlanta Practice, Paul Sansone leads TechCXO’s largest geography. Paul is passionate about how to optimize TechCXO’s resources on behalf of our clients growth and strategic initiatives.

As a practicing on-demand CFO, Paul Sansone has over 25 years of executive financial leadership experience in the e-commerce, enterprise broadband, hi-tech R&D and manufacturing, and non-profits. He specializes in establishing financial controls, processes, and organization for start-ups and turnaround restructurings for more established entities.

He has led all financial, accounting, IT, real estate and facilities, human resources, legal, risk management, and regulatory compliance functions at both private and public organizations, both domestically and internationally. His depth of experience includes Operational optimization, acquisitions, dispositions, raising capital, improving troubled financial departments, and developing financial organizations from the ground up. Among his career highlights are the following:

CFO, The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a $1.8B youth-serving federation. Paul managed to reorganize organizational-wide financial reporting, implement cost-savings initiatives, restructure the finance organization, and compliantly administer $25M in Federal Grants.

CFO of Better World Books, an Atlanta-based e-commerce company with $70M in revenues and which has raised $24 million to literacy programs around the world. At Better World, Paul instituted a company-wide restructuring plan that increased EBITDA margins 10% in one year.

Previously, Paul was Vice-President of Finance for Cisco Systems and Scientific Atlanta (11 years), as well as a Finance Manager at IBM (6 years) and a Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Paul is also a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Georgia, and a Certified Management Accountant. Paul has a BS in Accounting and a BS in Economics from St. Francis University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Jason Scherr

Jason Scherr has over 20 years of progressive financial and operational leadership experience with privately held, high-growth technology and service companies.

At TechCXO since early 2008, Jason has specialized in capital fundraising, sell-side preparation, strategic financial planning, and financial modeling. Jason has steered 110 debt/equity/M&A events totaling $925M for clients in the technology and services industries. Having served as interim CFO, acting CFO, or part-time CFO for 70 high-growth companies, Jason provides customized services drawing on a breadth of experience leading technology and services platforms to success fiscally and operationally.

Prior to joining TechCXO, Jason was a Co-Founder and the VP-Finance reporting directly to the CEO of a technology-enabled service company where he was responsible for all financial and accounting functions of the organization. He was a founding shareholder and led a $10 million capital raise that ignited annual revenue growth from $4 million to $25 million.

Jason also founded a software business in the golf industry that was eventually sold to Sequoia Golf Holdings (owner of Canongate golf courses), later acquired by Club Corp Golf. Jason started his career as an Analyst and eventually became Program Mgr at General Electric, where he was involved with new business development and current product growth related to major clients, including Home Depot.

Jason has a BBA degree from Goizueta Business School at Emory University, was a 2-time Team Captain of the Emory Golf Team, was an NCAA All-American in Golf, NCAA Academic All American, and is a lifetime member of MENSA.

CFO, EasyKnock, Inc. – Debbie led strategic finance, capital markets, underwriting, accounting, treasury, tax, and FP&A functions for this Series C/D proptech company that helps homeowners unlock equity in their homes. She also established an organizational structure, completed the first independent financial statement audit, and rebuilt the company’s financial forecast model.

CFO, Greenlight Financial Technology – At this fintech venture, Debbie led the finance and accounting department, negotiated large vendor contracts to improve unit economics, and joined the founders to successfully complete a $54M Series B capital raise.

CFO, IronPlanet – Debbie led a finance team of over 35 direct reports and led IPO readiness efforts. She developed an infrastructure to scale the marketplace GMV from $0.5 billion to $1.3 billion over a two-year period, doubling revenues over that period. She also completed a $20 million equity raise and structured a $55 million credit facility to support two M&A transactions. Debbie was a key team member in executing the largest strategic partnership for the company, which positioned the company for an IPO and subsequent sale to a public company for $758M.

Debbie has also served in leadership roles in global public accounting firms where she crossed multiple service areas, including audit, tax and systems implementations. She served as a Partner with Grant Thornton where she was the Partner in charge of the Tax and Finance Optimization and Global Compliance service lines for the firm. She also served as Partner, SC&H Group, and Managing Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she led the tax compliance service line for the McLean, VA office. Debbie began her career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen before becoming a partner in the tax division, specializing in M&A, Tax Function Outsourcing, and Accounting Methods.
