Partner - Executive Operations; Interim & Fractional CEO, COO, CRO

Jan Heybroek is a Partner in TechCXO’s Executive Operations practice.  He is most frequently called on by investors, Boards and senior management teams with life sciences companies to assist as an interim and fractional Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). 

With more than 30 years of senior leadership, Jan is exceptional in applying his knowledge and strategic marketing and product experience within life sciences and biopharma. He is particularly adept in building out new solutions, optimizing existing products and overseeing product portfolios to deliver industry and category-leading returns. Jan is also a thought leader in the areas of entrepreneurship, organizational partnerships, licensing and market insights.

During his distinguished career, Jan served in the following roles:

Founder and CEO of MDOutlook (acquired by Clinical Education Alliance) – MDOutlook, a leading healthcare precision insights and clinician engagement company, was sold to Clinical Education Alliance.  Jan joined the new management team as SVP Product Management, overseeing the company’s innovation. Prior to the successful exit, Jan developed and built out the company’s proprietary platform, Lumineer®. Lumineer includes more than 1M physicians and integrates various data streams with human-curated insights. It also drives other key products such as Activeer®, Orienteer®, and DOCpulse®. The company created the largest network of validated and verified cancer treaters in the world (165k+ treaters) and sustained year-of-year growth servicing life-science organizations, globally focusing on oncology and rare diseases.

President, Imedex (acquired by AmerisourceBergen) – Imedex represents the best in accredited, independent continuing medical education for over 20 years. As President, Jan supervised the annual delivery of 225 accredited medical education programs to more than 15,000 medical specialists globally (oncology, hematology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, psychiatry, cardiology, urology). Other content and training programs included live conferences (25-5,000+) and enduring education (web-, paper-based). Under Jan’s leadership, the company tripled revenues and profits, while doubling staff. Jan identified and successfully completed the acquisition of a competitor and also drove the completion of the company’s sale to new parent (AmerisourceBergen).

Engagement Director, Cambridge Pharma Consultancy (acquired by IQVIA) – Jan’s focus was on business consulting (licensing, M&A, due diligence) and strategic marketing (market assessment, improving market positioning, branding strategy) for this consultant to international biotech and pharmaceutical companies. He directly managed a team of 10 consultants in over 50 consulting projects. Jan initiated collaboration and development projects with new parent, IMS Health, that led to a new line of business.

Jan also held leadership positions with international companies that included Robert Pino & Company; Organon, where he was responsible for the global launch of the antidepressant, Remeron, a $1B+ product; and Altana, where he launched a novel lipid-lowering agent for cardiologists, diabetologists and endocrinologists to provide to their patients.

Jan holds master’s degrees in Medicine from University of Amsterdam, in Business Administration and in Business Informatics from Rotterdam School of Management / University of Michigan. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Jan is active on the board of several organizations.
