Dan Brown is a senior technology executive with a wide range of technology, operational and general management capabilities. As a strong leader, he has a proven track record of aligning the technology organization with corporate strategy, building / rejuvenating technology teams and leading organizations through growth and change.
Dan has significant software, operations, and technology experience primarily in the Financial Services, Software and Large Non-Profit spaces. Dan has managed large teams of 120+ as well as smaller entrepreneurial teams. Dan was awarded CIO of the Year in Georgia in 2010 and finalist for the Atlanta Telecom Professional of the Year in 2012.
Dan develops technology strategy and architecture, implements effective technology solutions including mobile and cloud based technology, manages large scale operations and technology infrastructure.
He also is a certified Executive Coach (by the International Coaching Federation), working with many C Level executives on extending and growing their personal and professional capabilities.
Prior to joining TechCXO, Dan has served as CIO/Consultant for Becons Group where he served as an advisor and sounding board for key initiatives, helped assess, clarify and develop technology strategy, alignment and direction. He also served as a business and executive coach with Sage Consulting.
He was also Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer for NCF, the 9th largest non-profit in United States ($1.7 billion in 2017). NCF is a major donor advised fund foundation that has operations in 20 states with 250 employees and affiliated members.
Dan also served as CIO and SVP for CredAbility, a large non-profit Agency that performs counseling nationally for consumer debt, pre-foreclosure, housing and pre-bankruptcy services. CredAbility had operations in 30 locations in 5 states and national coverage by telephone and chat. 600 employees. Dan was responsible for all technology business solutions, technology operations, software development and strategic technology direction for the Agency. He developed and implemented a three-year strategic roadmap for enhancing and overhauling the application portfolio, including the Agency’s web/e-commerce capabilities, call center processing, payment processing, business intelligence and counseling platforms.
Dan completely overhauled and improved the Agency’s network and hardware infrastructure including implementing a large virtual desktop capability. Recruited and developed a strong IT management team and put in place key vendors. Implemented a strong technology security program.
As Senior Vice President – Enterprise Information Systems at SunTrust Bank, a Top 10 bank in US, Dan was responsible for enterprise architecture, software engineering, customer information systems, enterprise imaging/workflow, and data warehouse/business intelligence practices. He led architecture group in business – technology strategy and service oriented architecture (SOA). Managed portfolio of enterprise level projects, technology budget and divisional staff. Led the delivery of business solutions through strong relationship management with key LOB leaders.
Dan also led the IT transformation effort at SunTrust, along with the senior IT team, moving to new organizational and process structure. This was a complete change of how IT was structured and how it worked.
Under his leadership, SunTrust implemented Oracle Financials for the bank and significant upgrades to the Peoplesoft ERP solution. SunTrust also improved performance of data warehouse and profitability system, implemented new system for ATM and customer account identity, and implemented the data governance and initial warehouse to support this effort.
Earlier in his career, Dan served as SVP – Information Technology for Lendlease and CIO for Compass Retail, Inc.
Dan has an MBA in Finance from Georgia State and a BA in Psychology from Covenant College.
