Eddie Birchfield


Mr. Birchfield has a sales effectiveness / sales productivity practice focused on working with healthcare services and healthcare IT companies the majority of which are venture capital portfolio companies for their sales, marketing and business development needs. He has worked with healthcare portfolio companies of Clayton Associates, MedCare Investment Funds, Council Capital, Noro Moseley Partners, JMI Equity, North Bridge Venture Partners, Heritage Group, Frontier Capital, Serent Capital, Chrysalis Ventures, Solidus, Ballast Point Ventures, SSM Partners, EDG Partners, Riverside Company, Fulcrum Equity Partners and others.

Mr. Birchfield focuses on helping companies develop and implement approach-to-market sales strategies and sales and marketing effectiveness programs that drive profitable growth. His areas of focus include sales strategy, customer segmentation, channel strategy, sales organization design and deployment, performance management, incentive compensation including lead generation and inside sales utilization. He is a sought after speaker and has written extensively on sales and marketing topics and has been published in a number of publications.

Prior to joining TechCXO Mr. Birchfield was the co-founder of SalesGlobe and The Sales Leadership Forum. Mr. Birchfield was also founder of Atlantis Partners, which assisted emerging growth firms with the formation of business, sales and marketing plans, strategic alliances and joint ventures.

Mr. Birchfield co-founded ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ – ADTN), a designer and manufacturer of communication equipment. Under Mr. Birchfield’s leadership, ADTRAN’s sales organization grew to more than $150 million. ADTRAN was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the “500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the United States.” ADTRAN had an initial public offering and currently trades with a market capitalization in excess of $2 billion.

Mr. Birchfield has an extensive background in the information technology (IT) industry having worked for Motorola, Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks.

Mr. Birchfield earned a bachelor of science (BS) degree from Auburn University and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Georgia. He has served on the Board of the American Cancer Society, Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Rotary International. He is an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
